Hail to the King, Baby
Alternatively titled (Most) Actors are Real People.
It looks like Bruce Campbell (of Evil Dead and TV fame) has penned himself an autobiography. Here’s an excerpt from the Introduction:
So, another actor writes a book about their glamorous, whirlwind life. Personally, as an ex-Detroiter, that crap bores me to tears. I’ve always been more interested in the working stiffs of Hollywood, 99% of whom are overlooked in those phony, “tell-all” books. For every Bruce Willis and Steven Spielberg, there are a hundred no-name slobs scraping out a living in this shockingly difficult profession.Although I know him primarily through the Evil Dead movies, I’ve heard a lot of good things about him, and I put it on my Amazon wish list for Christmas.
After reading some of Wil’s entries on the profession, I’m glad I never pursued acting as a full-time profession (not that I ever considered doing so). I don’t know how I would take it if working as the production manager on the 1990 New Kids on the Block cartoon series was my claim to fame.
(It’s a fact: using the cellpadding tag on Bruce’s site would do it a world of good.)
