Life is short, but sweet, for certain
To honor the memory and lives of the thousands of people from last week’s attacks, enjoy life on their behalf this week.
Since life is all about the little things, here are a few suggestions:
- Go walk barefoot and twiddle your toes in the grass (and/or the sand if your geography favors it), while the weather’s still nice.
- Enjoy a nice big bowl of ice cream.
- Find a sunbeam somewhere and linger on the way it feels on your skin.
- Go pet or play with a dog or cat.
- Tickle a baby and listen to it giggle or listen to the neighborhood kids play.
- Turn off all the lights, and with your eyes closed, pay attention only to the sound of your breathing and the rhythm of your heartbeat.
- Watch the leaves on the trees dance in the wind for a few minutes.
- Put on your favorite song or album. Then listen to it. Not like every other time you’ve heard it, but LISTEN to it. Or alternatively, go put on a CD you haven’t listen to in ages (it got in your collection somehow, didn’t it?).
- Give someone a hug.
- Remember something about your grandparents that makes you smile.
